The refs screwed up, and that simply handed Wisconsin the decisive touchdown. The rule is, and has always been, that if the QB’s arm is going forward with the ball in his hand, no matter how little going forward, it’s not a fumble but definitely an attempt at a forward pass. His arm was definitely and beyond any doubt, going forward … case closed, full stop, no question. The only thing I can think of that the refs questioned is whether the QB’s arm was going forward because he was trying to tuck the ball back in and take a loss. But, #1, it’s not their job to read the QB’s mind on what he was thinking, and #2, if he was trying to tuck it in and take a loss, he would certainly move his left hand toward the ball to try to grab it with 2 hands. His left hand did not do that. All the refs should have been interested in is whether his hand with the ball was moving forward, according to rule. It certainly was. They certainly screwed Army.

The refs also failed to call a lot of holding by Wisconsin, which they apparently chose to ignore, especially what looked to me like their holding Andre Carter on that clear prance around their left (our right) side for a touchdown.
