Army LB Jimmy Ciarlo signs with Jets

Army linebacker Jimmy Ciarlo is a New York Jet.

Ciarlo, a 2023 team captain and Ringwood, N.J. resident, signed with Gang Green as an undrafted free agent after working out a deal with Gang Green before the end of the today’s NFL draft.

One of Army’s most consistent defenders, Ciarlo worked out for the Jets on April 5 after impressive Army Pro Day in March where he benched pressed 225 pounds 34 times in front of the team scouts.

Ciarlo, who also received interest from Browns, Jaguars, Commanders and Dolphins, started 24 straight games at the hybrid apache (safety/defensive back) position the last two seasons. He notched 58 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, a forced fumble and fumble recovery his senior season. Ciarlo also impressed on special teams in kick coverage,

NFL Network and FOX Sports analyst Brian Baldinger was impressed with Ciarlo’s game film.

“There’s something about Jimmy Ciarlo,” Baldinger said on a Twitter post when breaking down the film. “I say this kid needs a chance. Rock solid. Strong as hell. Competitive as can be.”

Now, Ciarlo has his chance and an opportunity to pursue NFL dream with one of his hometown teams. Ciarlo makes it six former Army players in the league, joining linebackers Cole Christiansen (Chiefs), Jon Rhattigan (Seahawks) and Andre Carter (Vikings), defensive back Elijah Riley (Steelers) and offensive lineman Brett Toth (Eagles).
