Marquel Broughton named to PFF College team of week

Marquel Broughton timed the pass perfectly, jumping in front of Air Force tight end for his sixth career interception.

Broughton was greeted by teammates after teammates and Army’s coaching staff in celebration of his play. The interception and the emotion following was another example of the senior captain setting the bar and leading.

Broughton’s play against Air Force gained notice outside the program and rivalry. Broughton was recognized by Pro Football Focus College as one of the top graded safeties of college football’s Week 10.

The two-year captain was the first Army player to be named to PFF College’s team of the week this season. He recorded 10 stops for his sixth double-digit tackle game of his career. Broughton was injured with 9 minutes remaining after a collision with Air Force wide receiver David Cormier and left the field under his own power but did not return to the game. Coach Jeff Monken wasn’t asked about Broughton during his weekly press conference but hearing he’s feeling better.

Broughton’s 217 career tackles are 30th in Army history.
