The 2023 Army football schedule will feature three matchups against Power Five schools and only one September home game.
Army makes its first trip to Syracuse (Sept. 23) since 1996 and plays at LSU’s Tiger Stadium (Oct. 21) for the first time. The Black Knights host Boston College on Oct. 7.
Army’s 2023 season will open at Louisiana-Monroe Sept. 2. The Black Knights’ home opener and only game at Michie Stadium in September will be against Division I-AA Delaware State Sept. 9.
Army was originally scheduled to play Ball State on Sept. 9. When Georgia was scrambling for game when the SEC directed it not to play soon-conference member Oklahoma, Ball State agreed to the away game against the 2022 national champions.
Guessing Army and Ball State came to an agreement to move the 2023 game and buy it out.
Army will play at two NFL venues for the first time in Commander in Chief’s trophy matchups. The Black Knights clash with Air Force on Nov. 4 at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver and play Navy on Dec. 9 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
The Black Knights’ home schedule includes Troy (Oct. 14), UMass (Oct. 28), Holy Cross (Nov. 11) and Coastal Carolina (Nov. 18).
It should be noted that construction on the renovation of Michie Stadium’s east stands is expected to start in the summer of 2023.
