In my humble opinion, all we needed is someone who could install a pass game package from our option attach that looks like the option game so that opponents won’t brazenly bring 9 or 10 guys in the box, for fear of the potential pass package. It’s obviously easier to put in a pass game package from the gun, but then Coach Monken will have lost the under center option game that has made him and Army successful. Doing both the under center and the gun can obviously be done, but then you still need a pass game package from under center or they’ll stack the box whenever the QB is under center. So we either do as I said above, or become eventually a strictly gun offense, which takes away a lot of the reasons Coach Monken was successful. I welcome comments, please.
