Kemari Copeland was showered with cheers of encouragement as he attempted to set an Army Prep football weightlifting record.
Copeland proceeded to deadlift 650 pounds and was rushed by his teammates in celebration during a workout session in April.
Among Copeland’s spring lifts was a 600-pound squat and 400-pound bench press.
Copeland put in the work this spring. He and the freshman class will be one step closer to their first preseason college football camp as they report for R-Day today. Copeland, a linebacker, may be a plebe that Army looks to play the edge.
Army’s freshman roster should become official at some point Monday.
