Offense breakdown: UMass

Five plays. 83 yards. 90 seconds.

Looking for any bright spot in Army’s 21-14 loss to Mass? Perhaps, it’s freshman quarterback Champ Harris’ running the a hurry-up (1-minute, 2-minute) offense in the fourth quarter. Harris completed all three passes on the drive and finished it with 36-yard touchdown run.

Maybe, just maybe, Army will throw some of the fast-paced offense against No. 17 Air Force and its third-ranked defense.

Army coach Jeff Monken said all of his quarterbacks are healthy after starter Bryson Daily returning to action after missing the LSU game, entering in the third offensive series. Daily handed the ball off nine times until his first carry. He was effective on the ground, picking up six first downs on his 11 carries.

Army turned the ball over three more times. The Black Knights and Hawaii are tied for worst in the nation with 20 turnovers lost.

Offensive linemen Connor Finucane, Lucas Scott and Brady Short played all 62 snaps in Army’s 21-14 loss to UMass.

Senior tackle David Hayward wore No. 46 and played four snaps as a tight end in a jumbo formation. Freshman Jake Rendina made his season debut on offense as a H-back in the same jumbo scheme.
