Hammonds was active, leading the Black Knights with eight tackles.
Junior defensive end Andre Miller returned to action after missing three games following leaving the Syracuse with an injury on Oct. 7. Miller played three snaps.
The Black Knights struggled to get off the field defensively, allowing nine or more plays on five of the eight UMass drives.
Army did not record a sack on 23 UMass pass attempts. The Black Knights have recorded just four sacks in 110 passing attempts during their five-game losing streak.
