Game Week: Louisiana-Monroe

Sandon McCoy and the Black Knights offense is coming off a game in which they scored a touchdown on the first five possessions vs Middle Tennessee State.

Army should likely find success again this week vs Louisiana-Monroe, a team that gave up nearly 38 points per game in 2019. The Warhawks also come into 2019 with limited practice due to Covid-19 and a new defensive coordinator.

Breakout stars Tyrell Robinson and Jon Rhattigan will also look to keep up their momentum Saturday. Robinson, a freshman, rushed for 94 yards on nine carries. While Rhattigan, senior, made his first start of his career and came away with six tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Head Coach Jeff Monken held his weekly press conference on Tuesday and spoke very highly of Robinson stating, “That kid is like a lightning bolt. That kid is a lightning bolt. He’s fast and quick and I think he’s a really good player. Hopefully he’ll improve and just continue to get better. I think he has a great future ahead of him.”

Coach Monken also talked about how impressed he was with just about everyone who was making their first college starts vs Middle Tennessee State but also said that he found “a hundred things wrong we gotta fix.” He went on to talk about how athletic Louisiana-Monroe is all over the field and he anticipates the Warhawks to be ready and excited as they’re playing their first game of the season Saturday.
