Defensive breakdown (Delaware State): Leo Lowin tops Army in tackles again

Leo Lowin recorded his seventh career double-digit tackle game on just 43 snaps in Army’s home-opening win over Delaware State.

The senior linebacker, making his 17th career start, made 10 tackles. Lowin led Army in tackles for the eighth game in his career. He tied cornerback Jabari Moore for the most defensive snaps played with 43.

Kyle Lewis’ trifecta (sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery) was on a stunt with the nose tackle coming from the outside. Defensive coordinator Nate Woody said that the speed of Lewis may allow Army to stunt more often and help its pass rush this season. Lewis has remained on the field in the Black Knights’ third-and-long packages as one of two defensive linemen.

Senior edge Jackson Powell recorded the first sack of his career.

Thirty-six players received defensive snaps including freshman linebacker Elo Modozie, who recorded a sack, and cornerback Stephen Nnadozie, who had a tackle for loss.
