Brett Toth receives waiver, signing with Eagles

Brett Toth is headed to Philadelphia to sign with the Eagles after receiving a military waiver to defer his service time Friday.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who first broke the story, reported that Toth will ink a three-year deal with Philadelphia through agent Alan Herman.

Toth was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood (Missouri) and has served one year of his military service. He is the first West Point graduate to receive a waiver following President Donald Trump’s declaration pushing for service-academy graduates to immediately pursue professional sports following graduation.

Toth, who is 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, garnered interest from NFL teams following strong performances at the Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Game. Twenty scouts from 12 different teams attended Toth’s Pro Day at West Point in March 2018.

Seeing many posts on social media calling Toth, “a project.” Don’t know if any of those football experts have seen Toth play for the Black Knights. Army offensive coordinator Brent Davis described Toth, who graduated West Point with a physics degree and an emphasis on nuclear engineering, one of the smartest offensive linemen that he’s ever coached. 

Told Toth is in the best shape that’s he been in the last five years.
