Signing Day: Maryland DL Ose-Afiana picks Army over Navy, Air Force

Christian Ose-Afiana’s Signing Day came down to three schools.

Ose-Afiana’s choice would come down to Army, Navy and Air Force. The St. Frances Academy (Md.) defensive lineman revealed that he’s committed to Army Wednesday.

“Army was a no-brainer,” said Ose-Afiana, who is 6-foot-2 and 245 pounds. “It’s close to home but not in state so I could further expand my horizons. It’s an amazing football program and (it has) the variety of majors to choose from which beats Navy and Air Force.”

It’s been a long recruiting journey for Ose-Afiana to West Point. He was originally offered by Army and coach Jeff Monken in March 2022. Ose-Afiana transferred from Quince Orchard High School to St. Frances Academy and reclassified to the Class of 2024 for the 2022 season. Army reoffered Ose-Afianan in Feb. 2023.

“(There was an) overall love and and welcoming feeling showed through their hospitality when I visited,” Ose-Afiana said. “It really felt like home to me. Army was one of the first couple of schools to offer me earlier on in my recruiting process.”

Ose-Afiana also received offers from Marshall, Charlotte and Western Michigan.
