Army football stamped its standing as a national recruiting program with its current 2023 class.
The Black Knights’ recruiting class currently has commits from 31 states, including South Dakota (Updated with commitment of Nevada running back Will Stallings). Pennsylvania leads the way with 14 commits followed by Florida (12) and Georgia (12). Texas is tied with Ohio for fourth (7 commits).
Overall, Army has 110 2023 commits by our count as of Monday afternoon. The total number of commits is the most in recent history and could be partly the result of moving to a new shotgun offense.
Hazleton Area (Pa.) senior Matt Cusatis was originally recruited to play cornerback. Now, Army is looking at Cusatis as a slot receiver.
“I was a starting slot in my four years on varsity,” Cusatis said. “I spoke with (a) coach about the offense switch and I think it’s a good change for the program. Obviously for me as a wide receiver, it’s good. But in 2023 college football, I think this will be a good change.”
Though, the Black Knights picked up announced commitments from Lebanon (Tenn.) cornerback Anthony Crowell and Oak Mountain (Ala.) defensive back Devan Moss Thursday.
Potentially the class has 11 quarterbacks: Drew Allen (Trinity, Ky.), Kendell Anderson (Montgomery Blair, Md.), Mitchell Bolden (Lakota West, Ohio), Damarcus Creecy (Mainland, Fla.), Kenyon Goodin (Collins, Ky.), Hezekiah Harris (St. Thomas Aquinas, Fla.), Jacorey Martin (Southside Christian, S.C.), Hayden Oviatt (Wamego, Kansas), Will Smiley (Bay, Fla.), Ethan Washington (North Gwinnett, Ga.) and Eli Wisdom (Shiloh Christian, Ark.).
Briggs Bartosh (Park Hill South, Mo.) will start at running back but could move to quarterback or wide receiver. Bartosh’s senior season statistics were: 1,312 passing yards, 12 TDs, 1,263 rushing yards, 16 TDs, 202 receiving yards, 2 TDs. He’s the brother of Army freshman offensive lineman Braden Bartosh.
Nine commits had offers from Power Five schools.

Most have signed their certificate of commitment. Army doesn’t have letters of intent.
