Recruiting: Michigan DL Jaden Rogers first Army 2025 commit

Jaden Rogers was so sure that he wanted to play football for Army that Brighton (Mich.) junior defensive lineman didn’t think it was necessary to wait to make his college choice.

Rogers announced his commitment to the Black Knights, Army’s first of the 2025 class, Sunday morning. But, in fact, Rogers officially told Army defensive line coach Sean Cronin he was “ready to shut down my recruiting” on Feb. 20.

“I called up coach Sean Cronin and explained to him and my dad and I were sitting at the kitchen table going over visits we had lined up and this and that for recruiting,” Rogers said. “And, honestly, I wanted nothing to do with any of those other schools. West Point lined up all with all of the needs and wants. From the people to the location to the uniforms, it was perfect and I was like, ‘why go chasing all of these other schools if what I want is already at my fingertips.

Rogers, who is 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, received his first FBS offer from the Black Knights during Elite Junior Day on Feb. 3. He picked up an offer from Air Force four days after his visit to West Point. Rogers originally had plans to go out to Air Force March 8-9. He cancelled those plans and will now make his second trip to West Point on March 7-8.

Rogers valued the personal connections that he made with Army coaches Nate Woody (defensive coordinator), Sean Cronin (defensive line coach) and Sean Saturnio (special teams) during his time on post.

“I knew it (Army) was my No. 1 for a while,” said Rogers, who had 58 tackles as a junior. “Instead of going around and chasing all of these other offers, I can comfortably commit to my dream school without any worries.”
