Recruiting: Army commit, Gonzaga Prep DL Jadon Bumbaugh attending Troy game

Jadon Bumbaugh can’t wait to experience to atmosphere of Michie Stadium Saturday afternoon.

Bumbaugh is making his third trip to West Point in the last seven months but today is the first time he’s watching the Black Knights in his future home.

The Gonzaga Prep (D.C.) defensive lineman visited Army in April and June before committing to the Black Knights in August. Bumbaugh has 32 offers from FBS and FCS schools including Navy, Air Force, West Virginia, Liberty, Marshall, Toledo, Kent State Akron, Ball State and Charlotte. He visited Navy prior to his commitment.

“Army was a better fit overall with the coaching staff,” Bumbaugh said. “I felt like I bonded well.”

Saturday was not the Army first game that Bumbaugh has watched live. He attended Army’s 2021 win at Liberty.

Bumbaugh’s family has deep ties in the military including his great grandfather fighting in Normandy. His mother has a long line of Ethiopian military service in her family.

(Normandy), that’s way back,” Bumbaugh said. “I really didn’t know much about that. It’s pretty cool that Ill be able to continue that legacy.”

Bumbaugh will join his high school teammate and tight end Conall “Tex” Brannan at West Point. Brannan committed prior to Bumbaugh.

“It made it a lot easier to commit once he committed and a lot easier going up there knowing I have someone I know already and someone I can relate too,” Bumbaugh said.
