Pregame (LSU): Champ Harris to start at QB, Bryson Daily out

Champ Harris talked earlier in the week about playing every practice snap if he’s the starting quarterback.

The time is here for Army’s freshman quarterback to make his first college start.

Army sideline reporter Tony Morino first reported that starting quarterback Bryson Daily is out for tonight’s game at LSU. Daily left Army’s loss to Troy with a non-contact leg injury last week.

Harris will be the first Army freshman to start at quarterback since Chris Carter against Navy in 2015. He played 48 snaps against Troy last week, completing 6-of-13 passes in his first extended action.

Harris seemed unfazed when talking about the potential of his first start coming in front of more than 100,000 fans at Tiger Stadium. One of Army’s most touted quarterback recruits in the Jeff Monken era, Harris led Saint Thomas Aquinas to a Florida state high school title last fall.

Wide receiver Isaiah Alston missed his third straight game with an ankle injury. Tight end Josh Lingenfelter is also out for Army.
