Prediction time: Boston College

Hard to believe Saturday is the first Army-Boston College football game in 10 years.

Army and Boston College meet for the 39th time Saturday at Michie Stadium. Only Notre Dame (58 times) and Rutgers (40) have played Army more among FBS opponents not named Navy or Air Force.

The Black Knights are currently a 2.5-point home favorite. Boston College (2-3) is coming off a 27-24 comeback win over Virginia. Two of the Eagles’ three losses are by a combined five points – 27-24 in overtime to Northern Illinois in season opener and 31-29 to then-No. 3 Florida State.

Army’s last home win over a Power Five team at home was 21-16 victory over Duke on Nov. 11, 2017. To be fair, Army has hosted just one Power Five opponent since – a 70-56 loss to Wake Forest in Oct. 21. 2021.

The Black Knights are coming off a bye week after a 29-16 loss at Syracuse.

Prediction time

Sal Interdonato (Black Knight Nation): Army 34, Boston College 31. Score might be a little high pending potential wet conditions in the forecast. Army is expected to have electric running back Tyrell Robinson back for the first time this season, adding another weapon to the Black Knights’ offense. If Army protects the football (no turnover), it should protect its home field.
Seth Mendelson (Black Knight Nation): Army 31, Boston College 24. Two teams that badly need a win playing in what might be tough conditions. The wind might favor Army but it comes down to which team turns the ball over less.
Brendan in Jersey: Army 21, Boston College 17. Army has had a bye after getting embarrassed by Syracuse in the second half of their last contest. Saturday is going to be rainy and ugly and that’s exactly what I expect from the game as a whole. This isn’t about stats. This is about sheer will and, frankly, the Cadets NEED this one.

Predictions from across the college football universe

Curtis Flannery (SB Nation’s BC Interruption): Army 26, Boston College 24
Jackson Caudell (Fan Nation’s All Yellow Jackets): Boston College 28, Army 23
