Direct or Army Prep: Florida LB Noah Nixon ready to make impact

Noah Nixon’s college football recruiting was an unique experience by his admission.

Recruiters didn’t reach out as much as Nixon expected earlier in the process. Interest picked up when Nixon transferred to West Orange (Fla.) High School for his senior season.

Nixon first met Army cornerbacks coach and Florida recruiter Daryl Dixon near the end of his junior year. Dixon stayed in touch with Nixon through December 2022 when the linebacker prospect received an offer.

Nixon’s perception of Army’s program changed during a January visit.

“I was surprised how serious they took football,” said Nixon, who committed to Army on April 1. “I was told that the academies were academics and the military first and football was just a side activity. But when visiting, it was very apparent that West Point is there to win football games.”

Nixon, who registered 112 tackles and 19 tackles for loss as a senior, also received an offer from Navy as well as Division I-AA offers from Columbia and Marist. Nixon’s visit didn’t only change his perception of Army’s program. It brought Nixon closer to his decision.

“I knew Army was the school for me when I learned more about the history of the program, the culture of the program and the endless benefits of ultimately becoming a West Point grad,” Nixon said.

Nixon’s commitment may have come later than most. But, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker is ready to make a difference.

“It means a lot to be able to have the opportunity to go to such a prestigious school like West Point and also get to continue playing the game that I love,” Nixon said.

Here’s a working list of Army’s 2023 recruiting class and where they are headed. (Commits, DM @salinterdonato and let us know if you are headed to West Point or Army Prep)
