Connor Finucane makes Outland Trophy watch list

One of Army football’s consistently good players received some national recognition Tuesday.

Senior guard Connor Finucane was one of 91 returning offensive linemen to be named to the Outland Tropy watch list. Finucane has answer the call in 25 straight games as a starter over the last two full seasons for Army.

It’s never been a question of whether Finucane would play through injuries. It’s just where he will line up. He started at right guard and right tackle. When Army’s offensive line is fully healthy, Finucane is the likely the Black Knights’ right guard.

Voted as one of four team captains by his teammates for the 2023 season, Finucane gained 25 pounds in the offseason and is listed at 6-foot-4, 320 pounds on Army’s roster heading into tomorrow’s first preseason practice.

Finucane should be among the Army players to attract some NFL attention this season. He was second among FBS guards in run blocking total points last season, according to SIS Football.

The Outland Trophy is awarded to the nation’s top interior lineman (offense or defense).
