Army inside linebackers coach Cortney Braswell is leaving West Point after two seasons to join Scott Satterfield’s staff at Cincinnati.

Braswell is expected to coach inside linebackers at Cincinnati, which will play its first season in the Power Five Big 12 conference this fall.

Black Knight Nation has confirmed Braswell’s move. Matt Zenitz of on3sports was the first to report the hire.

Braswell joined Army’s staff in 2021 and coached Defender of the Nation award winner Arik Smith in his first season. He had five Army different players ready to make starts at inside linebacker in 2022.

Army recently promoted Braswell as its defensive run game coordinator earlier this month. Braswell proved to be a strong recruiter in the state of Tennessee, where he coached high school football and starred at the Baylor School.

The Black Knights have four Tennessee commits among their 2023 class including one with Power Five offers and three with Navy offers.

Braswell was selected to the American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Coaches Leadership Institute in December 2020. He will reunite with Satterfield. Braswell was Satterfield’s defensive quality control coach at Louisville in 2019.
