Army unveils 3rd Infantry Division uniforms for Army-Navy game

Army football is turning to more recent military history for the eighth edition of its Nike specialty uniforms for the Army-Navy game.

Army will honor the 3rd Infantry Division, nicknamed “Rock of the Marne” when it takes the field for college football most storied rivalry on Dec. 9 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. The uniforms are dedicated to the division’s Dogface Soldiers and their success in Operation Iraqi Freedom 20 years ago.

The tan-colored jerseys and pants, which have a black font, are inspired by the desert, where the 3rd ID operated in the invasion of Iraq. The 3rd ID’s patch appears on the left shoulder The Iraq Campaign streamer is on the jersey’s back below the neck. The initials “ROTM (Rock of the Marne)” are down the side of the uniform’s pants.

The helmet features the words ” Dogface Soldier” on the front visor, Rocky the Bulldog, the division’s mascot on the side and “Rock of the Marne” on the back. The stickers for 3rd ID’s three Brigades – Raider, Spartan, Sledgehammer – during the invasion will be randomly assigned to players.
