It’s official.

Army and Notre Dame will meet on the football gridiron for the 52nd time on Nov. 23 at Yankee Stadium.

As first reported by Black Knight Nation in May 2021, the two storied programs will face off at a still-to-be-determined kickoff time in a non-conference game that will be part of Notre Dame’s Shamrock Series. Notre Dame will serve as the home team. The game will be broadcasted nationally on NBC and Peacock.

The 24th meeting between the teams at the home of the Yankees will serve as Army’s lone FBS game outside of its first season in the American Athletic Conference and its Commander in Chief’s trophy games. Army’s AAC schedule will be announced in the coming weeks, per the academy’s athletic communications. The Black Knights will play eight AAC opponents this year as well as Air Force in early November at Michie Stadium, Navy in mid-December in Landover, Md. and will open the season against Lehigh on August 30 at Michie Stadium.

Army and Notre Dame have met 22 times at the original Yankee Stadium (1925-29, ’31-46, ’69) and once at the current Yankee Stadium. The most recent contest in 2010 also marked the first college football game played at the current Stadium, which opened its doors in 2009.

Army fell to Notre Dame 44-6 in the teams’ last meeting in 2016 at the Alamodome.

Army and Notre Dame have also played at the famed Polo Grounds, which was located across the Harlem River from where Yankee Stadium is, Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, Shea Stadium in Queens and Giants Stadium in New Jersey.

The game’s announcement coincides with the Irish celebrating the 100th anniversary of the fabled Four Horsemen backfield of Jim Crowley, Elmer Layden, Don Miller and Harry Stuhldreher.
