Missy Traversi and the Army women’s basketball program have dipped into the transfer portal, adding a backcourt player with Division I experience.

UTEP freshman guard Soleil Montrose announced she has committed to the Black Knights Sunday. Montrose started six out of 31 games her freshman season for the Miners. The 5-foot-10 Irvine, Calif resident averaged 3.3 points, 1.4 rebounds and made 10 3-points in 2022-23.

Montrose was twice named Conference USA rookie of the week. She scored 23 points against Texas Southern in her third college game.

The Black Knights return Patriot League rookie of the year Reese Ericson and starters Sam McNaughton and Lauren Lithgow from a team that reached the conference semifinals. Army graduated Sabria Hunter, a Patriot League first-team forward, and forward Kam Hall, a Patriot League third-team pick.

Montrose, who has three years of eligibility remaining, could see time on the wing.
