Recruiting: Ohio RB Gavin Madigan joins Army 2026 class

Gavin Madigan always had eyes on attending West Point and playing Army football.

Going back to his freshman year of high school, Madigan was drawn to the academy.

Madigan impressed Army’s coaching staff at the team’s prospect camp last June, earning underclassmen running back MVP honors. Army offered Madigan in February, giving him a chance to make his dreams become reality.

After his second West Point visit earlier this month, the Wadsworth (Ohio) junior was ready to make his decision. Madigan verbally committed to Army and slotbacks coach Dane Romero Tuesday.

“For a while, I’ve always looked at them (Army) as a place I wanted to be,” Madigan said. “I love the service aspect and they have an excellent football program and academics. I love the idea of being surrounded by student athletes with ELITE character.”

Madigan, who is 5-foot-11 and 227 pounds and also starts at safety, is being recruited by Army on the offensive side. He will be a three-year captain and four-year starter his senior year. Madigan rushed for 11 touchdowns in six regular games while battling an ankle injury his junior season. He will be the first member of his family to serve in the military.

Madigan is the second commit of Army’s 2026 class, joining Massachusetts linebacker Malcolm Robertson.

“I’m just super excited for the opportunity and to be surrounded by so many exceptional people,” Madigan said.
