Recruiting: Fla. WR Max Urbanek commits to Army during visit

First impressions made a difference during Max Urbanek’s Knight on the Hudson weekend visit.

Urbanek watched an offseason Army team workout and was immediately impressed.

“It (the energy) was something that I’ve never seen before,” Urbanek said.

Before Urbanek departed West Point from a two-day unofficial visit, the Newsome (Fla.) wide receiver met with Army coach Jeff Monken and joined the Black Knights’ 2027 recruiting class.

“I was instantly drawn to there program,” said Urbanek, who received an offer from Army on April 26. “They’ve shown major interest in me and as soon as I got to campus i’ve loved every second of it.”

Urbanek is one of many 2027 prospects that committed to Army during its signature recruiting weekend. The 6-foot-6, 175-pound receiver, who also had an Air Force offer, could be an important future target in Army’s offer. Urbanek caught 23 passes for 456 yards and six touchdowns in his first high school season as a receiver.

”I’m excited to be involved in this (Army) offense,” Urbanek said. “I think it’s going to be fun.”

Urbanek has some family ties to the military. Grandfathers on both sides served in the Army.
