Prediction time: AAC Championship Tulane

Let’s get this out of the way first ahead of Army’s American Athletic Conference championship game against Tulane tonight.

The Black Knights have lost four straight games to the Green Wave, all during the Jeff Monken era.

And, yes, Tulane coach Jon Sumrall is 2-0 vs. Army with wins at Troy in 2022 and 2023.

The stakes are certainly this time around with a championship on the line in Army’s first season in conference.

Army (10-1) are a 4.5-point home underdog to Tulane (9-3). The Black Knights can tie a program record with their 11th win.

Sal Interdonato (Black Knight Nation): Army 24, Tulane 21. Army’s defense will need to be on point if the Black Knights want to finish their home schedule with a win. Offense could assist with a few time-consuming touchdown drives

Seth Mendelson (Black Knight Nation): Army 31, Tulane 28. The Black Knights hold off a tough Green Wave squad in the cold weather at Michie thanks to a ball-controlled offense

Predictions from around the college universe
Stuckey (Action Network): Under 45.5
Pete Fiutak (College Football News): Tulane 30, Army 14
Steve Lassan (Athlon Sports): Tulane

When I saw the Fiutak prediction of 30-14 Tulane, I said a prayer at my church’s daily Mass on Friday morning asking God to please make the score be just the opposite in favor of Army. God granted my request and did a bit more, making it 35-14 Army. I’m only sorry about allowing that 4th quarter last-minute touchdown to Tulane. 35-7 has a nicer ring to it, don’t you think?

And maybe Coach Monken typically was giving some other guys a chance to play in those last couple of minutes?
