Recruiting: Nebraska OL Carter Glab added to Army 2026 class

Carter Glab knew Army was serious about recruiting him when offensive line coach Mike Viti came to watch one of the Millard South (Neb.) offensive lineman’s workouts in May.

It’s not often that Army coaches make recruiting trips to Nebraska. Viti’s visit played a role in Glab’s commitment to Army. Glab joined the Black Knights’ 2026 recruiting class Thursday (June 5).

Black Knight Nation recruiting research suggests Glab could the first Army commit from Nebraska in the Jeff Monken era.

“It means a lot to be committing to Army and being from Nebraska,” said Glab, who is 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds. “Not a lot of kids from Nebraska have gone to Army. It’s definitely cool for them to come all the way out here to recruit me.”

Glab has his options to play service-academy
football, receiving offers from Army, Navy and Air Force. What made Army his top choice?

“Army stood out over the other two (academies) because of the staff and the high level of football in my opinion,” Glab said. “I feel like Army is the best out of the three in most categories and that is what led to me choosing them.”

Glab’s belief in Army’s coaching staff specifically Viti and offensive line coach Cheston Blackshear is a big reason why he’s a future Black Knight. Army is recruiting Glab to play center.

“The major deciding factors that led to West Point were the top tier coaching staff with coach Monken, coach Viti, and coach Blackshear along with unbelievable campus and academics that come along with the great football, and the fact that Army has the best O-line in college football after winning the Joe Moore award (for nation’s best offensive line) last year,” Glab said.

Glab’s Army recruitment started in February when Viti reached out. Viti extended an offer during his May visit. Glab visited Army on June 2 followed by a stop at Navy the next day.

“When I visited Army, the culture really stood out and the feeling of the brotherhood that they always talk about,” Glab said. “All of the guys were really close and I got to talk to them for a while and I fit in with them really well. Another thing that stood out was the beautiful campus that has a ton of history.”
