Jackson Blanchard completed his college football recruiting Wednesday, signing his Army certificate of commitment.
Service academies have always been near the top of the Castle View (Colo.) tight end’s college list. The opportunity to play football at a high level increased Blanchard’s interest.
While, both Army and Air Force extended Blanchard opportunities earlier in the recruiting process. It was the Black Knights that stayed with Blanchard to the end. Air Force filled its slots up, Blanchard said.
Blanchard made his decision to join Army’s 2025 recruiting class the day after completing his first visit to West Point last month.
“After my visit, it just felt like home and felt right to me and where I wanted to be,” said Blanchard, who also was offered by in-state Colorado State and received interest from Ohio. “One thing that impressed me (on the visit) was how good they took care of me. I was always doing something and they made sure my every need was met.”
Blanchard, who is 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, played his high school football about 35 minutes from the Air Force Academy. He grew up going to Air Force football games with his father. Air Force wasn’t necessarily his top school, growing up, Blanchard said.
“I just knew I wanted to play football (at a high level),” Blanchard said.
Blanchard’s vision have come true with Army.
