Recruiting: California 2027 DE Hunter Taylor commits to Army

Hunter Taylor recently visited two schools during his college football recruiting.

Taylor took a trip to West Point on April 7 and left impressed and a feeling of home. Three days later, the Mira Costa (Calif.) defensive end honored his visit to Air Force.

Interactions with Army’s coaches and players and the program’s culture set the Black Knights apart from Air Force.

Taylor called Army special teams coach and his recruiter Sean Saturnio with his commitment Sunday. He is the second commit of Army’s 2027 class, joining Viera (Fla.) offensive lineman Coby Wallace.

“I loved the place,” Taylor said of his Army visit. “Meeting the players and talking to the coaches and seeing the culture of Army’s program in person made me know that it was the place to be.”

Taylor said another important part of his commitment was the bond he made with Saturnio, who offered him in February. He also said, “I love the faith that is connected with the Army football program.”

Army envisions Taylor, who is 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds as a defensive end in its 3-4 scheme.

Taylor had 50 tackles, nine tackles for loss, seven sacks and also caught a touchdown pass as tight end his junior season.
