Prediction time: Independence Bowl

It’s finally bowl game day.

Army is a 14-point favorite over Louisiana Tech in its first Independence Bowl since 1996.

The Black Knights’ opponent has changed since Marshall opted out due to the transfer portal but the line hasn’t with Army as the favorite to win its school-record 12th game.

Louisiana Tech (5-7) lost three overtime game by a combined 13 points to Tulsa, New Mexico State and Jacksonville State. If you’re looking for a common opponent between Army and Louisiana Tech, it’s Tulsa. Army crushed Tulsa 49-7 on the road in October. Louisiana Tech lost to Tulsa 23-20 at home in September.

Army is 4-1 in bowl games in the Jeff Monken era with the only loss coming to West Virginia 24-21 in the 2020 Liberty Bowl.

Sal Interdonato (Black Knight Nation): Army 38, Louisiana Tech 14. This has game has 2018 Armed Forces Bowl feels. Will Army put up 70 like it did against Houston? Maybe not. But, the Black Knights should light up the scoreboard against an opponent that doesn’t belong on the same postseason field as this Army team.
Seth Mendelson (Black Knight Nation): Army 47, Louisiana Tech 21. The Black Knights have much to prove in the Independence Bowl and they don’t disappoint. Bryson Daily goes out on a high note and Hayden Reed shows Army fans what to expect next season.
