Talented Army sophomore running back Kanye announced Saturday that he is entering the transfer portal.

Udoh posted his decision hours after Army’s 31-13 loss to Navy. The 1,000-yard rusher was

“I have made the decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal” Udoh wrote in a social media post. “This has not bee an easy choice as my time at Army has been incredibly rewarding both on and off the field. I’ve learned and grown in ways I could never have anticipated when I first joined the program and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities and experiences I’ve had here.”

Udoh recorded the fourth rushing season in Army history rushing for 1,117 rushing yards and scored 10 rushing touchdowns. He was the ECAC’s FBS rookie of year as a freshman. Udoh helped Army to its first American Athletic Conference championship, tying a career high with 158 yards against Tulane last week.

There was a sense that Udoh could pursue the transfer following the season that put together and his talent.

“I want to express my sincere appreciation to coach (Jeff) Monken, the coaching staff, my teammates and everyone in the Army football community for their support, guidance and cameraderie,” Udoh wrote. “I’ve formed friendship that formed into family and I will always carry the pride of being a part of the Army football brotherhood.

“I’m excited for what the future holds and the next chapter in my journey but I will forever treasure the time that I spent at West Point and the lessons I’ve learned as a member of the brotherhood.”

Udoh finished with a team-high 53 rushing yards against Navy in what appears to be his last game for Army. The Black Knights will play Louisiana Tech, which took the place of Marshall Saturday. Udoh’s social media post says to contact Vienna Talent Group for any recruitment or business inquiries.

“Thank you again to everyone that has supported me during my time here,” Udoh said. “I wish nothing but the best for Army football and will always be rooting for the team’s success.”

As a former Rutgers athlete and graduate, I would hope and urge Rutgers coach Greg Schiano to pick him up, as Kanya is a NJ guy from Cape May.
