One constant has stayed the same during Brady Small’s first three seasons of Army football.

Small has started every game at center since his freshman year. He’s made 37 straight starts entering next week’s Army-Navy game.

The American Conference recognized Small for his play and consistency Wednesday, naming the Army junior to its first team for the second straight year.

”Brady, just how much he means for our offense, he’s tough,” Army coach Jeff Monken said. “He anchors that offensive line and it’s a good tough unit.”

Small and Army won the Joe Moore Award for the nation’s best offensive line last season. This season, the Black Knights are ranked fifth in the nation in rushing at 256.9 yards per game.

Army senior linebacker and captain Andon Thomas was named to the American second team. The Campbell Trophy finalist leads Army with 96 tackles through 11 games.

Sophomore defensive end Jack Bousum made the American third team. Bousum, who missed his freshman year due to injury, tops Army with three sacks and has added six tackles for loss.

Senior safety Casey Larkin was an honorable mention selection. Larkin has 59 tackles and two interceptions this season.
