Pregame (Kansas State): Army OL fired up to improve

As Army offensive line goes, the Black Knights’ offense goes as coordinator Cody Worley often says.

Center Brady Small and Army’s offensive line held each other accountable after the team’s 30-27 double-overtime loss to Tarleton State last week. The challenge is greater against Kansas State Saturday night.

”I feel like the guys are very motivated this week and coming with a different fire under their belt,” said Small, Army’s most experienced lineman. “That’s very exciting to watch.”

“As the offensive line unit, we put everything on us. We didn’t play well enough. We didn’t do enough things right to put ourselves in a situation to win. Coach (Mike) Viti says it all of the time, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves because we know that we can handle it. I think the offensive line is really locked in this week. I’m really excited for the opportunity to go out there and play a great team in Kansas State.”

Army starting nose tackle Kody Harris-Miller will miss tonight’s game due to injury. Harris-Miller was banged up twice late against Tarleton State. Jacob Tuioti and Matt Gemma are expected to play in place of Harris-Miller.

Wide receiver Liam Fortner, who missed the opener due to injury, warmed up and may play, per Army radio.

Army cornerback Justin Weaver brought physical play to the secondary in the team’s opener. Weaver is also looking forward to Kansas State challenge.

“It’s an opportunity for us to prove that we still are a great football team, a great organization and that we can compete with the best and that this season isn’t going to go how that first game went and that a setback can lead to a bigger comeback,” Weaver said.
