Army hiring Tom Theodorakis as new AD

Army has completed its search for a new athletic director and it’s staying in-house.

Deputy athletics director Tom Theodorakis has been promoted to lead Army’s department. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report the hire. Black Knight Nation confirmed the hiring. Army is expected to make a formal announcement within the next day or two.

Theodorakis fills the opening created when Mike Buddie took the director of athletics position at TCU in December. He was hired by Buddie in July 2022 as Army’s senior associate athletic director for external operations. Theodorakis added chief revenue officer to his title in March 2024.

Prior to West Point, Theodorakis worked in the Harvard, Arizona, UCLA and Air Force. Theodorakis was a member of Syracuse’s 2024 national championship lacrosse team.
