Tennessee LB Jaxyn Law continues family path to Army

Jaxyn Law took no more than 30 seconds to make his college decision when Army coach Jeff Monken visited Stratford High in Nashville Tuesday.

Monken gave Law the opportunity that he had waited for since his brother and offensive lineman, Jordyn (nickname “Boobie”) took his first snap for the Black Knights in 2020.

Law, with his father and head coach Anthony present, committed to Army instantly.

“I was excited when I received the offer from coach Monken,” Law said. “Once coach Monken came to speak with me and my dad/coach at my school, I was comfortable with what Army had to say.

“My brother, who just graduated from West Point, helped a lot in my decision.”

Army is recruiting the younger Law on the opposite side of the ball as an outside linebacker, a position that he’s played for the last three years. Running backs coach Chandler Burks visited Law last spring.

Law also received an offer from Air Force and a preferred, walk-on spot at Tennessee.

His familiarity with Army’s program made Law’s choice a no-brainer.

“Army was a school I had in mind due to the fact of my brother being there,” said Law, who is 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds. “We spoke a lot about his experiences, all the visits my family was able to make and being able to attend Army-Navy games played a part as well.”

Law also played cornerback and safety at Stratford as well as wide receiver and was the team’s long snapper.

“I believe with my length and athleticism, the coaches will be able to get the best out of me at outside linebacker,” Law said.
