Recruiting: Texas DE Zac Manning commits to Army

Zac Manning started thinking and dreaming of playing high-level college football when he was 10 years.

Ever since Mannning can remember football has been his sport. Manning’s next road in his football journey will lead to West Point.

Manning, a defensive end from Prosper (Texas) High, committed to Army and linebackers coach Juice Weaver Monday night.

“Honestly, Army was very unexpected and a fast offer for me,” Manning said. “My family and I were definitely not expecting it until coach Juice had reached out wanted to call and from there he offered.

“My family and I went up for a visit (on June 20-21) and the campus and facilities are insane. On top of that, the coaches and the way the players carry themselves so well. I wanted to be a part of the family.”

Army is recruiting Manning as an edge rusher. Manning, who is 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, was a first-team, all-district Texas 6A defensive lineman his junior year. Manning is the type of player that will do anything for his team to be successful. He was Prosper’s long snapper last season.

“I don’t care where you put me on the field, I will play it,” Manning said.

“They (Army) think my speed and the way I can bend smoothly past offensive lineman will be a great fit for edge.”
