Prediction time: UAB

Army is a 6.5-point road favorite at UAB Saturday.

The Black Knights, which had their 5-game road winning streak snapped last week at East Carolina, look to avoid their first 1-4 start since 2022.

Army defeated UAB 44-10, building a 34- halftime lead, last October for the Black Knights; first win over the Blazers in six meetings.

Games in the month of October have been unkind to Army before last year’s 12-2 season. Army is 6-13 in the previous five seasons (2019-2023) in October.

Sal Interdonato (Black Knight Nation): Army 31, UAB 27. Must have game for Army. The Black Knights can’t have another slow start. It will be another long day if Army is playing catch up again. Defense, which has only three sacks in four games, must pressure or hurry UAB quarterback Jalen Kitna.

Seth Mendelson (Black Knight Nation): Army 35, UAB 33. The Black Knights rely on a patient offense attack to squeak out a vital victory on the road. It’s not easy. And it won’t be pretty.

Cuthbert Hutton (Sidelines Army): Army 35, UAB 17. UAB and Jalen Kitna will undoubtedly follow North Texas and ECU’s success going immediately for the jugular before Army’s defense can get itself straight. If Army wins the toss, they will opt to receive in hopes to squeeze a 6+ min drive to start to game and preemptively blunt any UAB offensive momentum. Without a solid RB stable, expect Army to rotate Coleman & Hellums in and out frequently to keep UAB off balance. Army comes up big in win.
