Prediction time: Army at UTSA

Only three schools have defeated UTSA in the Alamodome over the last six seasons.

Army is one of them and the Black Knights have defeated the Roadrunners twice over that span in 2020 and 2023 in non-conference games. Houston (2022) and Texas State (2025) are the only other teams to leave San Antonio with a win since 2020.

Saturday is Army’s first American Conference road game at UTSA. The Roadrunners have a 25-game conference home-winning streak over the last six seasons.

Army (5-5), a 7.5-point underdog, needs a victory to secure bowl eligibility.

UTSA has scored 61, 48 and 58 points in its home conference wins over Rice, Tulane and East Carolina this season.

Army senior running back Noah Short caught a 25-yard touchdown pass in the Black Knights’ 37-29 win at UTSA in 2023. Senior running back Hayden Reed also rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown.

”It was a great game,” Short said. “We came out on top. Great memories there.

”I just think it’s a great environment (playing in the Alamodome). I remember before the game the lights were going on and off. It was my sophomore year and one of my first couple of game reps. I was super bright-eyed. I was a great experience for sure.”

Sal Interdonato (Black Knight Nation): UTSA 27, Army 21. If Army’s defense can find a way to slow down UTSA, which is averaging more than 55 points in three home conference games, the Black Knights could score an upset and earn bowl eligibility. Army’s offense must convert fourth downs to extend drives in this game. Will the Black Knights open up the offense for more chances at big plays? Expect UTSA to feature its running game and Robert Henry more after watching Army’s second-half tape against Tulsa last week.

Seth Mendelson (Black Knight Nation): UTSA 35, Army 14. The Roadrunners just have too much offensive power for the Black Knights in San Antonio. Can Army pull this game out? Sure, if the Black Knights control time of possession and limit turnovers.

Cuthbert Hutton (Sidelines Army): Army 17, UTSA 14. After a dismal and uninspired performance last week, expect the Black Knights to fire on all cylinders. UTSA will be weaker than advertised and Army will bully their way to a victory.
