Army cornerback Jaydan Mayes is in the process of withdrawing from the transfer portal and rejoining the Black Knights.

Mayes, who entered the portal two weeks ago, has not been added to Army’s online roster yet. Once Mayes finishes the withdrawal process, Army will have one of its impact defensive players back. Mayes led the Black Knights with four interceptions in 2024.

Army coach Jeff Monken told Black Knight Nation in an interview a few days after Mayes’ announcement of entering the portal that he hoped both Mayes and 2024 starting cornerback Donavon Platt, who was also in the portal, would return to the team.

“I don’t want them to go,” Monken said. “I don’t want them to transfer. I don’t know. We’ll see. It’s hard to say. West Point is a hard place and certainly you can find places where it’s easier. You don’t have to study as much. You don’t have professional standards where you have to wear a uniform and the military stuff. It’s different.”

Platt has not announced his next destination as of this writing but reportedly visited Virginia during the transfer process.
