Inside The Numbers: Army 2023 recruiting

Jeff Monken and Army’s coaching staff have offered more than 600 high school football players from the 2023 to this date.

Black Knight Nation’s data collection and research has turned up some interesting facts on recruiting battles with Navy and Air Force, what states Army is recruiting the most and what other Division I-A schools are offering the recruits.

Here’s some of the numbers that we have discovered through social media posts:

Army has offered 605 members of the 2023 class as of Thursday afternoon. Air Force has offered 298 of those same recruits (49.3 percent) while Navy has offered 247 (40.8 percent). All three academies have offered 145 of the 605 players (24 percent)

Camden County (Ga.) safety Jake Lindsey announced his commitment to Army Friday over offers from Navy and Air Force. Three other 2023 Army commits Matt Gemma, Andrew Hardwick and Patrick Kendall also received offers from Navy.

The Black Knights have offered players in 39 of the 50 states. Here are the top five states:

Texas – 79 offers
Georgia – 65 offers
California – 49 offers
Ohio – 38 offers
Florida – 35 offers

Note: Illinois is 6th with 33.

What non-service academy schools are Army recruits receiving offers from the most? The answer may be surprising. Kent State has offered 65 of the 2023 recruits that Army has followed by Akron (55), Central Michigan (51), Bowling Green (50) and Miami, Ohio (50). All Mid-American schools.

Here’s the top offered schools by conference:

SEC: Vanderbilt 23
Big Ten: Maryland 17
ACC: Duke 21
PAC-12: Washington State 21
Big 12: Kansas 25
AAC (not including Navy): Tulane 34
Mountain West (not including Air Force): Nevada 34
Sun Belt: Marshall 47
Conference USA: Middle Tennessee State 33

We’ll continue to update the numbers as recruiting continues.
