Jon Rhattigan is headed to Carolina.

Rhattigan, a former Army standout linebacker, was claimed on waivers by the Carolina Panthers Wednesday after spending the last four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks were hoping to get Rhattigan through waivers and resign the special teams ace, according to Tacoma News Tribune Seahawks beat writer and West Point graduate Gregg Bell. Carolina special teams coach Tracy Smith was an assistant with the Seahawks during Rhattigan’s time. The connection potentially led to Rhattigan’s move.

Former Army all-American linebacker Andre Carter was resigned to the Vikings practice squad Wednesday. Carter was released by Minnesota Tuesday when NFL roster were cut down to 53 players. The outside linebacker, who is entering his second NFL season, had two sacks in the Vikings’ final preseason game.

Cole Christiansen was also signed to the Chiefs practice squad one day after Kansas City released him. The two-time Army football captain and linebacker has been a member of Kansas City’s back-to-back Super Bowl champions.
