Army RB Kanye Udoh named to Doak Walker watch list

Kanye Udoh joined elite company among Army all-time running back in his rookie season.

Udoh’s back-to-back 100-yard rushing games when the first by an Army freshman since Mike Mayweather, the academy’s all-time leading rusher accomplished the feat in 1987.

Udoh has another chance to follow Mayweather’s path this fall. The Black Knights sophomore was one of 87 players picked for the Doak Walker preseason watch list. Udoh is looking to join Mayweather as Army’s second Doak Walker semifinalst. The award is given to the nation’s top running back. Winners have included Reggie Bush (2005) and Derrick Henry (2015).

Udoh, who will be featured in Army’s multiple offense, is looking to improve on his ECAC rookie of the year campaign. He rushed for 524 yards and averaged 5.3 yards per carry in 2023.
